It’s covered for Curative members every 3 years when ordered by an in-network provider and may be a good fit if you’re 45+ and at average risk. Your provider can help you decide if it’s right for you.

Who is Cologuard for?

Cologuard is generally for people age 45+ who are at average risk for colorectal cancer. If you’re unsure, your PCP can help you figure it out.

Yes. It’s covered every 3 years as a preventive screening when ordered by a provider.

Can I order Cologuard myself?

You can request it on the Cologuard website, but we recommend talking to your PCP first to confirm it’s the right option and to get guidance on next steps.

Do I still need a colonoscopy?

Some members may. If you're at higher risk or if your Cologuard result comes back abnormal, your clinician may recommend a colonoscopy.

Who should avoid using Cologuard?

Cologuard is not the right fit for individuals who have symptoms such as bleeding or unexplained weight loss, have previously had colon cancer or certain polyps, have certain bowel conditions, or have a family history of colon cancer or other hereditary cancer syndromes.
