At Curative, we believe that communal well being is fundamental to individual health.
We’re building infrastructure to make essential health services easier to access for everyone. Our infrastructure is designed to change as the world does—offering nearby access, affordable services, and science-based guidance.
Our efforts are supported by the optimism and ambition we share with communities across the US, and together we’re imagining new ways to help more people stay safe, healthy, and informed wherever they are.
Rebuilding healthcare is not for the faint of heart, but we are up to the challenge. When COVID-19 testing was few and far between, we were standing up mass testing sites around the country. Now we’re applying that same operational vision to optimize the healthcare delivery system. Every challenge is an opportunity, and every opportunity brings the potential to improve healthcare as we know it.
Everyone should be able to get the care they need, when they need it. We made COVID-19 testing and vaccinations accessible through kiosks, vans, and drive-thrus to meet people where they are and build health equity. Now we’re building high-touch preventive healthcare for our communities.
Healthcare is filled with unnecessarily high costs and many new solutions can be more for show. Through our vertically integrated systems and data-driven decision making tools, we guide care to what’s needed and what’s preventive, while cutting out the unneeded.
Our work is done with intentionality based on the latest science and technology. Even if it moves fast, we have the extensive research and testing behind it. Our employees come from hugely diverse backgrounds, years of experience, and fields of education. No matter where they start, we encourage employees to grow into new positions and keep developing their skills.
Healthcare doesn’t live in a vacuum. It is about where people live and work. We collaborate with diverse community partners to raise awareness and make healthcare delivery stronger.
Founded by Fred Turner, Isaac Turner, and Vlad Slepnev in January 2020, Curative was initially set up to develop and improve outcomes for sepsis patients. When the pandemic escalated in March 2020, we decided to focus on creating a rapidly scalable COVID-19 testing process to help flatten the curve and save lives.
With a growing network of thousands of sites in over 40 states and three CLIA certified, high-complexity labs, we have been partnering with communities across the U.S. to provide testing through turn-key programs, streamlined patient experiences, and scalable infrastructure. We continue to roll out a suite of other services in partnership with major cities, states, and organizations across the U.S., making health services easier to access for everyone.
A British scientist from West Yorkshire, Turner attended the University of Oxford. Mr. Turner was named one of the top 100 practicing scientists in the UK by the Science Council 2013. Turner was included in Forbes “30 Under 30” list and ranked first in the European Union Contest for Young Scientist. Turner previously founded and led a 16z and YC-backed diagnostics (Dx) startup that built a CLIA lab for validating and launching an STD testing product in Menlo Park, California.
Dr. Slepnev previously led teams that have built and launched 10 FDA-cleared diagnostic products in the infectious disease space. He led molecular R&D at Meridian Biosciences (public Dx company), which developed 9 FDA cleared tests + 13 CE marked tests. He is a co-founder of Primera Dx, which raised more than $50M and sold to Qiagen.
Dr. Turner is Chief Technology Officer, a co-founder, and Head of Vaccine of Curative Inc. He holds a PhD in Bioinformatics from Oxford in DNA sequence analysis. He has developed algorithms for interpreting Illumina and Oxford Nanopore sequencing data and is passionate about taking technical innovation into the clinic and scaling these processes. Previously at an a16z-backed biotech startup, Dr. Turner helped establish a clinical lab offering novel antibiotic susceptibility tests.
