At Curative, we’re doing everything we can to make testing affordable and accessible to all patients while easing their concerns about the process and billing. We follow federal and state laws, rules, and regulations to implement a no out-of-pocket cost model for patients with valid insurance accessing COVID-19 tests offered across the country at Curative test sites.
To make this possible, when you come to us to get tested, we may ask for any of the following information: your insurance information or your government-issued ID and an attestation that you do not have health insurance. Patients without valid health insurance may be offered COVID-19 testing at a discounted rate if Curative receives payment at the time of scheduling an appointment. Similar price discounts are available to health plans that process Curative claims within one day after receiving them. We offer a number of COVID-19 tests to support testing across efforts in hundreds of communities across the country. Our test offerings include PCR and antigen tests, with result turnaround times for some tests within as little as 1 hour.
What is an explanation of benefits (EOB)?
Some insurance companies send patients a document that is known as an Explanation of Benefits. In some cases, this document may appear at first glance like a bill and list an amount under “patient responsibility”. Your insurance company is responsible for the costs associated with your COVID-19 test. You are not obligated to pay any out-of-pocket costs to your insurance company in the form of a copay or deductible for the COVID-19 test. Whether Curative is in-network or out-of-network, your insurance company is still responsible for paying for the costs associated with your COVID-19 test.
