June is Pride Month, and Curative supports its LGBTQIA+ colleagues and the broader community. We are proud to stand together in giving voice and visibility to LGBTQIA+ acceptance and equality. As a company, inclusiveness is at the forefront of our work for our patients, our community partners, and our employees. By celebrating the accomplishments of our LGBTQIA+ colleagues and highlighting COVID-19 testing and vaccination efforts by and for the community we lift up the voices, struggles, and lives of the amazing people.

June 12, 2021 was the anniversary of the horrific massacre at Pulse, a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida. As a company, we showed respect and solidarity by partnering with the Southern Nights District and Dive, another Orlando-based gay bar, and leaders in the LGBTQIA+ community to test during Pride Month. We handed out flyers on scooters and stayed until midnight testing patients via one of our mobile vans. As a result, the Southern Nights District and Dive site has been one of Curative’s constantly visited test sites in Florida, having become a trusted and dependable testing partner in the community. This site has also won three awards, including Favorite Local COVID-19 Testing Site!

Curative also partnered with South LA LGBT Center, which initially opened its doors just before the first nationwide COVID-19 lockdown in the United States. This site has slowly been implementing re-opening procedures so that the local community can once again begin using the array of services offered in their physical space. Partnering with Curative to provide COVID-19 vaccines was an excellent way for South LA LGBT Center to increase visibility and build trust among locals. Curative offers vaccinations during weekends and late mornings to reach the highest number of patients.
Our goal for this partnership with Curative is to provide access to the vaccine in a safe and welcoming space. We want our community to know that we are here to provide LGBTQ+A competent care and that we are responsive to their critical healthcare needs, most especially responsive to the access to vaccines and information about the current COVID-19 pandemic. Through this, we hope to continue to create partnerships with service providers that work to improve health and socio-economic outcomes for LGBTQ+A in South LA and beyond.

Employee Spotlight
We asked Curative team members, “What does being an LGBTQIA+ leader in healthcare mean to you?” Here’s what they had to say:
“The LGBTQ+ community is such a diverse community, and being part of the healthcare community allows me to bring my unique perspective and represent my brothers and sisters in the community. Not everyone in the LGBTQ+ community has proper access to healthcare, and that is a goal of mine, and I know it’s something Curative strives for, as well, as patient care for all is our main priority.”
–Pasquale Gianni, Senior Communications Manager
“I am proud of who I am, I’m unapologetic in my bisexuality, and I appreciate being given the opportunity to represent myself and others like me. At the same time, I look forward to when our personal traits are not something that needs to be discussed and we are accepting of everyone. Being vocal about who I am allows me to be an ally to other LGBTQ+ individuals at Curative and elsewhere.”
–Sarah Scaramuzzi, Lead Clinical Laboratory Scientist, Extractions
“Being a gay man that is a leader in healthcare means a lot to me. 46% of LGBTQ+ employees remain closeted in the workplace for fear of being stereotyped or jeopardizing their professional growth/connections. Showcasing that I am part of the LGBTQ+ community as a leader at Curative may help break down these fears.”
–Jeremy Hernandez, Director of Laboratory Operations
“To be the face and the shield for the LQBTQIA+ community, help them grow, and find the resources they need. Lead the way to a better healthcare future full of career advance and support.”
–Joseph McCusker, HR Director for National Providers
“Representation matters. My position as an LGBTQ+ leader in healthcare is a statement, saying that people who look like me can thrive in leadership. I can contribute to pushing the boundaries for my company and my community.”
–Bria Howard, Extraction Lead
“Being an LGBTQIA+ leader in healthcare means that no person regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation will be delayed or denied the healthcare they need. It means that we honor our core values of putting our patients first. I believe in our commitment to all patients who trust us with their health. That commitment translates to the simplest things that can be such a great experience for our LGBTQIA+ patients. For many in our community, a medical visit is a daunting task. Having a space where a queer person can complete their appointment without feeling judged or different can mean the world to some of our queer brothers and sisters.”
–Alejandro Delacruz, Customer Care Tier II Specialist
Curative has zero-tolerance for discrimination against the LGBTQIA+ community and will continue to focus on increasing healthcare access for the most vulnerable among us.
Curative Inc. and its subsidiary, Curative Management Services LLC, engage with medical entities that provide vaccination services.
